Creating Bubble Gum Fusion Candles

“These young ladies taught me the value and how bright our future is”

-Keith Burroughs CEO

In a collaborative effort on (May 18 2024), Mood and Senses, in partnership with Kia Caldwell Photography, KreativezStudio, and Gyenyame Foundation LTD., hosted a memorable event to conclude TeenShop’s season. The event highlighted potential career paths in skincare, candle making, photography, and business ownership. Let’s delve into the world of TeenShop.

About Teenshop

Founded on June 15, 1985, by Elleanor Jean Hendley during her tenure as a broadcast journalist at CBS 3 TV, TeenShop originated at Zion Baptist in North Philadelphia. The purpose was to provide girls of color with positive role models. Through an innovative curriculum comprising life skills workshops, college preparation programs, and community service projects, TeenShop has empowered numerous girls of color to excel in their pursuits and become leaders in various spheres.

Despite Elleanor Jean Hendley’s initial intention not to expand TeenShop, the overwhelming demand led to the establishment of chapters in Philadelphia, PA, Los Angeles County, CA, and Camden, NJ. Each chapter is overseen by a dedicated five-member female volunteer team consisting of career and retired professionals, often including TeenShop alumnae. With a remarkable track record of 100% college acceptance and a network of over 3000 alumnae, TeenShop continues to make a significant impact.

At the recent event, Mood And Senses LLC CEO Keith Burroughs and Zakiyah Caldwell of Kia Caldwell Photography hosted the TeenShop group. They conducted a candle making introductory class and provided a photography backdrop, offering students a platform to explore their career interests. Over pizza and laughter, participants engaged in insightful conversations, fostering a sense of camaraderie and learning from one another. The experience was enriching, and the collaboration with TeenShop holds promising prospects for the future.

A heartfelt thank you to Mood And Senses CEO Keith Burroughs, Kia Caldwell of Kia Caldwell Photography, Dr. Wellington Gibson (Gyenyame Foundation LTD) and all those who contributed to making the event a success.
